It’s been a while since I was away for the weekend, and even if my holiday is soon approaching, I felt that I needed some time off.
I am not a mountain person, I cannot ski or practice any winter sports, and to be honest with you I do not even like snow that much. But to recharge your batteries, I found out on multiple occasions that being close to the mountains will do the trick (that in case you do not have a beach nearby, which would be my number one choice, obviously).
Located in the canton of Vaud, Villars-sur-Ollon is a small village, where the accommodation consists mostly of chalets. If you google the village you will also find out that it has 2 of the most expensive boarding schools in the world, but this post is not about that 😉
After much thought and careful consideration, I have picked Chalet RoyAlp for my one night accommodation in Villars-sur-Ollon and I couldn’t have made a better choice. Member of Leading Hotels of the World, this 5* chalet is so charming and cosy that you will have a hard time leaving.
The service was amazing, starting from the check-in (which literally took less than 5 minutes) until my departure. Kudos to the staff, for their professionalism and attention to details. They are always smiling and going the extra mile for you to have a great stay. I felt so spoiled!
The room was absolutely beautiful and the view from the balcony- breathtaking.
If you are up for a walk, there are lots of hiking trails which start right at the hotel; but if you are the lazy type, you can chill out at the spa or at the hotel bar.
If you are on a romantic getaway you can choose the private spa for 2 hours and enjoy a nice bottle of wine or Champagne while soaking in the Jacuzzi tub.
If you decide to stay more than one day, there are many things to do in the area. Montreux is about 40 minutes away and if the weather is nice you can enjoy the lakeside promenade of this resort town.
If you like castles, do visit the Chillon Castle which is between Montreux and Villeneuve
And if you are a chocolate addict, like moi, you cannot miss a visit at Maison Cailler in Broc (about one hour away from Villars)
