Having dinner at Maison Manesse is like having dinner at your friend’s house. You will feel so welcome, so familiar, that it will be difficult to leave. It’s a small, cosy place where everything is possible and nothing is forced as they nicely describe it on their website.
Serving experimental dishes, with 6, 7 or more courses, love will be present on your plates as well as in your glasses. Choose the menu with the wine pairing for a complete culinary experience and if you are a foodie, like me, I can honestly tell you that you will be in heaven by the end of the evening. Each dish is nicely presented by Miguel Ledesma, the manager responsible for the service who lives, breathes and speaks gastronomy. You can ask him as many questions as you want, he will have an answer for everything (regarding food and wine), and at the end you will get some very good tips on Swiss wine producers (if you are interested).
Your culinary journey starts with a very interesting test of your palate, where you will get 6 different kind of “liquids” and a straw, which will take you from sweet to sour, from bitter to salty. This test is for you to understand the tastes and what happens when you put them together. Don’t forget that for a chef a perfect palate is an essential piece of equipment, their careers hang on their ability to discern, recall and re-create those tastes.
I will not describe the courses I had, I will let you enjoy the pictures. The most important thing for you to know when you go there: pay attention to everything you get on your plate, you are there not just for eating amazing food, but for retaining that taste in your taste memory and to retrieve it.
